A week or so ago, I learned that the Yakuza, in an effort to avoid costly lawsuits borne from their criminal activities, are now being tested on a wide range of banned activities. Here’s a more complete article on the matter.
It’s not that the Yakuza has gone on the straight and narrow. They have, however, identified legal loopholes that will get them out of trouble should one of their members get caught in some criminal activity.
Testing implies training. I imagine most of Yakuza training is on-the-job. I would also imagine that initial Yakuza training would include, as an objective, the ability to identify an amateur sting being conducted by some kid who looks like he’s barely moved out of his mother’s basement.
